Rest, Reflect and Review

900x600 rest, reflect, and review..png

This week’s podcast episode is the last one of 2018, and so I decided to do something slightly different to wrap it up.

Last year, I led a workshop for Cambridge Business Women to help them get reflective about their year they’d just and enjoy being in a space of feeling creative and gently excited about the year ahead.  I was delighted to hear that people found it really useful - so I thought it would be useful to share the workshop content with you too - call it...

When feeling blue is more than just a 'bad day'

900x600 what to do when you're in a bad mood.png

Bad moods, thought storms, down in the dumps.  They all point to the same thing - not feeling great.

When we're in this state of mind, have you noticed that EVERYTHING seems to look annoying/frustrating/generally rubbish?

At this point, I could say something along the lines of the fact that thoughts do change moment to moment, so if you don't like how you feel, it's OK because another one will be along in just a moment.

But what if it really seems like one bad mood thought is being...

Series 2: Episode 6 Creating Content Consistently (how to get out of your own way)

Consistency with content.png

Would you like to be much more consistent when it comes to creating content?

As a mindset coach to entrepreneurs and small business owners, the conversation I frequently hear is this:

"I know I should be writing blogs/recording videos/being more active on social media, but I just can't seem to get going with it. Help!"

The good news is, everyone has the ability to 'get going' with it, but when you're not there yet, it feels incredibly frustrating (and worrying), because if there's one thing...

Waking Up Feeling Exhausted? (This explains why)

WAKE UP FEELING EXHAUSTED_.png

Do you wake up in the morning feeling exhausted, even though you went to bed at a reasonable time? Then you find yourself mentally calculating how many hours you’ve had, telling yourself tonight will be an early night?

Waking up feeling tired before the day’s even started has to be one of the most frustrating things. The motivation isn’t there to get things done, the urge for sugar and carbs is high, and you feel like you’re in go-slow mode. No one sees the best of us...

Superstitions, Insights, and Playing Better Tennis!

900x600 Superstitions, insights and playing better tennis.png

Don't walk under ladders. Always maintain eye contact when you 'cheers' someone. See a magpie, salute it.

Wikipedia describes superstitious thinking as "any belief or practice that is considered irrational: for example, if it arises from ignorance, a misunderstanding of science or causality."

So what helps us to 'see through' superstitious thinking? The answer is - insights.

In the coaching work that I do, I often ask people about insights; what insights have you had since...

Tired Of Trying To 'Think Positive' All The Time?

900x600 tired of trying to think positively all the time_.png
Tired of trying to 'think positive' all the time?

That's understandable. Trying to think positive all the time or change your negative thoughts into positive ones is a losing game.

The reality is we don't get to choose what thoughts pop into our head. They just do. That's the nature of thought. If you are a living and breathing human, you will experience thousands of thoughts each and every day (it's been estimated up to 70,000-80,000 thoughts a day), of which some...

What To Do About The Fear of 'What If' Coming True

900x600 What to do about the fear of what if coming true.png
It's often been said that as humans, we are born with two fears only - the fear of heights and the fear of loud noises, which if that's true then everything else is a learned behaviour, which is good to know, right?

Worry in its simplest sense is a misuse of the imagination. As humans, we developed imagination as a resource to provide practical solutions to our problems.

So in other words, imagination is a very valuable tool to help us creatively navigate our way...

What Becomes Possible When We Throw Away The Rule Book?

900x600 what becomes possible when we throw away the rule book_.png

When it comes to creating content, I love writing, I enjoy speaking, and I love creating videos.

Yet I don’t have time to write a blog, record a podcast, and create a video each and every week, when would I have time for coaching clients, running my group programmes, and working on new ideas?

So...

Instead of forcing myself to choose one and stick to that, I thought 'how can I get around this?'

Then the idea came to me - 'why do you even need to choose?'

Who says you can't record a...

Seeing Through 'Imposter Syndrome' (all of it!)

900x600 imposter syndrome.png

For far too long now, the feelings of 'imposter syndrome' has hoodwinked many brilliant and talented people into believing they are frauds and do not deserve to occupy the place they have reached in life as well as business.

...and what a shame!

That said, the feelings of 'imposter' are so incredibly believable and compelling that when people experience them, it's no wonder they pay attention and act on those feelings - often either by retreating into the darkness or stepping on to...
